Sarah Storey announces retirement from Paralympic cycling after Paris 2024

Paralympic legend Sarah Storey has announced that she will retire from cycling after the Paris 2024 Games.

The 44-year-old Storey is Great Britain's most successful Paralympian, having won a total of 28 medals, including 17 golds.

Storey made her Paralympic debut at the Sydney 2000 Games and has competed in every Games since then. She has won gold medals in a variety of events, including the individual pursuit, the time trial, and the road race.

Storey's success on the track has been matched by her achievements off it. She is a passionate advocate for disability rights and has worked tirelessly to promote the Paralympic movement.

In a statement, Storey said: "I have decided to retire from Paralympic cycling after the Paris 2024 Games. This was not an easy decision, but it is the right one for me.

"I have had an incredible career and I am so grateful for all the opportunities that cycling has given me. I have met amazing people, travelled the world, and achieved more than I ever thought possible.

"But after 25 years of racing, I feel that it is time for me to move on to new challenges. I am excited about the future and I am looking forward to spending more time with my family and friends.

"I would like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my career. I could not have achieved what I have without you.

"Thank you."

Storey's retirement will be a huge loss to Paralympic cycling. She is a true icon of the sport and her achievements will continue to inspire generations to come.
